Hadestown
Anaïs Mitchell's multi-award-winning musical Hadestown, inspired by Greek mythology, opens in the West End following acclaimed seasons at the National Theatre and on Broadway. This breathtaking show tells the dual story of jaded spouses Hades and Persephone, and fledging lovers Orpheus and Eurydice, as a harsh winter descends in an industrial town. Will Eurydice be tricked into selling her soul to Hades? With folk-inspired songs such as “Way Down Hadestown” and the heart-stopping “Wait For Me”, Mitchell and director Rachel Chavkin’s production has been a huge hit on both sides of the Atlantic. In New York, it won eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, and now, back in London at the Lyric Theatre, a hugely talented cast - Dónal Finn as Orpheus, Grace Hodgett-Young as Eurydice, Melanie La Barrie as Hermes, Gloria Onitiri as Persephone and Zachary James as Hades - make it one of the most unique musicals to see in the capital.
